These are the announcements published by the City of London press office in the run-up to the 2008 Lord Mayor's Show. 2009 Press releases will be published here as they are issued: most come out either at the end of September, when the incoming Lord Mayor is elected, or in the fortnight before the Show, when accreditation forms and other useful bits and pieces will also appear.

Kids go bananas for oranges and lemons

Children across Hackney are having fun learning the traditional nursery rhyme 'oranges and lemons' in preparation for the Lord Mayor’s Show on 8 November. East London Food Access (ELFA) has received a grant of £15,000 from the Lord Mayor of the City of London to take part in the show.

Lambeth children bring Capoeira to Lord Mayor’s Show

UINCAP International Union of Capoeira has received a grant of £15,000 from the Lord Mayor of the City of London to take part in this year's prestigious Lord Mayor's Show on 8 November. 30 children from Lambeth state schools will dance and drum alongside a colourful float depicting the history of capoeira.

The City of London’s Family and Young People's Service is one of just four London groups to have received £15,000 in funding from the Lord Mayor of the City of London to build their own float for inclusion in the Lord Mayor’s Show. The theme of their entry will be "City on holiday".

The City today elected Ian Luder as the 681st Lord Mayor of the City of London, to serve from Friday 7 November. Ian Luder, who served as Sheriff of the City 2007-2008, is an eminent tax accountant and City businessman, with a long-standing commitment to public service.

Briefly:

The 2010 Lord Mayor's Show will be on Saturday 13 November. The procession lasts from 11am to about 2.30pm and fills the whole area between Bank and Aldwych. There are guided walks at 3 and the day ends with fireworks at 5 over the Thames.
