Media Centre

This year’s Lord Mayor’s Show is on Saturday 10 November. Most of the media material related to the Show comes out either at the beginning of October, around the time of the incoming Lord Mayor’s election, or in the two weeks before the Show itself as everything is lined up for the day.

Press Accreditation

As last year there will be two main press points and photographers and TV crews must apply in advance for accreditation. You’re also welcome to mingle with the crowds but there will be no access to the route itself during the procession. Full details and application form are available here.

Photo Call

Media are invited to attend the traditional early morning rehearsal on Wednesday 7th, which welcomes Alderman David Lewis into position as the 680th Lord Mayor of the City of London. There will be photo opportunities at 5am during the rehearsal of the coach and horses and at 9am when the coach is readied in Guildhall Yard. Interviews with the pageantmaster and the Lord Mayor Elect can also be arranged.

Lord Mayor Elected

The 680th Lord Mayor of London will be David Lewis. He will take office in the Silent Ceremony on Friday 9th November and in the Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday the 10th he will travel to the Royal Courts to swear loyalty to the Crown.

Mr Lewis is an eminent lawyer and City businessman and served as Sheriff of the City in 2006-7. His charities will be ORBIS and Wellbeing of Women. ORBIS works in some of the world’s poorest countries to eliminate avoidable blindness and Wellbeing of Women funds research into clinical issues affecting women’s reproductive health.

Introducing the Show

The official announcement of the 2007 Lord Mayor’s Show is now available:

In a blend of history and modernity, Bollywood dancers will perform along side top club DJs, military marching bands and Chinese aerial acrobats as the three-mile long parade winds its way through the streets of the City of London, from the Mansion House to the Courts of Justice via St Paul’s Cathedral and back…

The City of London’s Family and Young People’s Service is one of six London groups to have received funding from the Lord Mayor to enter the Show. Their float will include about 70 people from the City, aged from three to 80 years old, all transformed into proper City Gents.

Press pictures

The first pictures of floats preparing for this year’s Show are now available here. There is also a collection of generally useful images, and last year’s procession photos have been kept in the collection.

Supported floats

As in previous years, six community groups have received grants to support their appearance in the Lord Mayor’s Show. The initial announcements are available now, and we’ll bring you more details and pictures as the their work progresses.
